The Cinder Cone Is House Porn At Its Finest

The Cinder Cone is Foster Huntington’s short film that documents the year-long process of building his dream home with a community of tight knit buddies and the result is stunning!

A few months ago we featured a short film on Pro-snowboarder  Mike Basich and the build of his off the grid cabin out in the wilderness near Truckee CA. Now we’re bringing you another inspirational build that will leave you wanting to sell everything, buy a plot of land in the wilderness, let your creative juices flourish and build your dream home.

In 2011, the successful young designer, Foster Huntington quit his high paying job with Ralph Lauren in the Big Apple, purchased a van and set off into the sunset, rebooting his life by focusing on the things that really mattered – Surf, travel, friends and family. He documented his travels through his blogs, A Restless Transplant and Van-Life and in the process, created a  community centered around a new nomadic way of living in the 21st century.

In March 2014 Foster and his close group of mates began an epic build in back country of Skamania County on the Columbia River. The main focus was building a complex, multi-platform tree house, but the build quickly expanded to also include a full sized skate bowl and a wood fired hot tub too.

The build took the team an entire year to complete, and the finished product is an absolute masterpiece.

The team have also produced a coffee table book of the Cinder Cone Build on Kickstarter too! You can buy it here.
